GREEN MATTERS: We use organic practices, but due to our small size, can't justify organic certification at this point. Some of the practices we use include low till of the soil for soil conservation, planting of sugar cane and other native plants as wind breaks, preventing soil erosion with tree plantings on slopes to hold the soil, reusing mulch from East Hawaii Organics facility in Hilo to create new soil beds with Bokashi brought in from food scraps collected by Better Together Compost Solutions. We use in house worm castings to amend the soil and ferment on site food waste into LAB/Bokashi fertilizers, as well as more traditional forms of composting to reduce the amount of waste we produce as much as possible.
